WCMRC would like to congratulate the recipients of our 2022/23 $1,000 post-secondary scholarships: Alexandra McDonald, Mark Emes and Duncan Tymensen.
Alexandra is currently a final-year student at UBC pursuing a Combined Major in Science – Physics, Math, and Environmental Science. As a part of her ongoing co-op program, Alexandra is working for QM Environmental, a WCMRC contractor, as an emergency response technician where she gets to enjoy the hands-on, fast-paced, rewarding work.
Mark is a third-year student at Mount Royal University, in the Bachelor of Arts – Policy Studies program. As a summer student, Mark worked at the Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) in Government Relations. As part of his extracurricular activities, Mark is involved as the Deputy Chair for the Member of Parliament for Calgary Forest Lawn’s Youth Advisory Council.
Duncan is enrolled in the Marine Engineering Program with BCIT and is currently on his first sea phase with Transport Desgagnes on the east coast, operating primarily along the Gulf of St Lawrence and its associated seaway. For the past few years, Duncan has been volunteering with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue at Richmond Station 10.
WCMRC would like to wish the winners and all the applicants success in their future careers.
