In 2016, WCMRC awarded a design contract to Vancouver-based naval architects and marine engineering firm, Robert Allan Ltd., to design three new pollution response vessels. The new vessels were custom-designed to meet the formidable environmental conditions and demanding requirements of Canada’s exposed West Coast. They will act as a mothership to other smaller vessels during training exercises and in the response to any spills.
In September, we awarded the construction contract for the three vessels to ASL Shipyards in Singapore. Learn more about the vessels in this month’s BC Shipping News.
