WCMRC crews provided spill response training for provincial Environmental Emergency Response Officers from the Ministry of Environment at the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Centre in Sooke this week
The training included two scenarios simulating fuel spills in the harbour and provided an opportunity for the Province to learn about boom deployment techniques and protection strategies. WCMRC has developed Geographic Response Strategies to protect sensitivities in Sooke Harbour.
The training also included representatives from Beecher Bay Sc’ianew (Cheanuh) First Nations.
