WCMRC implements enhanced safety measures for COVID-19

Given the unprecedented situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, WCMRC has implemented enhanced measures to protect our employees and to do our part to interrupt the transmission of the virus. Our priority is the protection of our employees, their families, and those vulnerable to the virus. While these measures are in effect, WCMRC will remain response ready throughout the entire West Coast.

To combat the spread of COVID-19 and maintain the safety of our employees, WCMRC has implemented the following measures:

  • All staff have been directed to work from home
  • All non-essential travel and meetings have been cancelled
  • All training and exercises have been postponed

To ensure our 24/7 response readiness for Canada’s West Coast, WCMRC has implemented the following measures:

  • All response personnel will remain on standby for any potential incident
  • Daily remote check-in of response personnel
  • WCMRC will conduct vessel checks, using a single individual; working alone procedures shall apply in these cases
  • Safety related work orders that ensure regulatory compliance and response readiness will be completed

As in all matters, WCMRC remains committed to the health and safety of our employees and the protection of the West Coast. Should there be any changes to the above measures or to our response readiness we will advise members.
