WCMRC maintains a growing fleet of emergency response vessels, including custom-built oil spill response vessels, deck and tank barges, landing craft, skiffs and workboats. Vessels are stationed at various bases but can be redeployed or repositioned anywhere along the coast to support response efforts, training exercises, operational needs, or other organizational initiatives.
B.C. has over 27,000 kilometers of coastline, most of it remote and challenging to access. Landing craft provide response organizations with the ability to mount a shoreline operation on the most remote beaches. These vessels can deliver equipment, personnel and vehicles to shorelines throughout the province.
