Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified Response Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.

WCMRC is hiring a Full-Time Logistics Coordinator to join our Response Readiness team in Nanaimo or Beecher Bay, B.C. 

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Collaborate with each operating area to plan and execute all programs owned by the logistics team.
  • Maintain relationships with service providers and monitor service provider performance.
  • Support the development and implementation of best practices in procurement, warehousing/transportation, inventory, and staging area management.
  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation activities to ensure timely and efficient resource flow.
  • Assist in developing area response plans by sourcing and engaging external resources as per operational / logistical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all external response contractors within the dedicated database.
  • Assist the training team in coordinating training of service providers.
  • Work effectively as a team member with designated area staff and other employee groups.
  • Work in accordance with all legal requirements, attend and complete all required health and safety training, report all accidents, and take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

To be successful in this role you will have a post-secondary degree or diploma and bring a minimum of three years of previous business experience, preferably in Supply Chain management and/or within a store’s environment.  You are a team player able to coordinate and interact with multiple people and projects, and skilled at managing changing and shifting priorities. In addition, strong computer skills, including proficiency with all MS Office applications are required. A Class 5 driver’s license in good standing is also a requirement.

Salary range: $52,775 – $62,088 a year.
