Operations Coordinator

Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified Response Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.
 
We are seeking a Full-Time Operations Coordinator to join our team in Richmond B.C.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Coordinates operations scheduling including the execution of base level exercises and drills.
  • Completes assigned tasks during certification exercises in accordance with the Oil Spill Response Plan.
  • Supports and schedules training events to ensure the readiness of contractors (vessels and land-based) within Zone of Responsibility (ZOR).
  • Supports base staff in internal systems, such as the preventative maintenance program, finance systems and other relevant programs.
  • Participates in monthly maintenance meetings to develop workforce plans to achieve maintenance requirements.
  • Administers and tracks progress of Work Order completions with regular updates to base management team and Engineering & Maintenance Department.
  • Performs administrative duties such as booking meeting rooms, data entry and responding to internal and external inquiries.
  • Supports and coordinates the maintenance of WCMRC base/office facilities and equipment.
  • May fulfill purchase requisitions, base shipping/receiving and materials management.
  • Distributes communication, including meeting agendas and minutes, and takes meeting minutes as required.
  • Supports the coordination of staff travel (flights/hotels).
  • May act as one of the afterhours emergency calls related to base security systems.
  • Demonstrates a tangible commitment to workplace safety practices; rigorously enforces all workplace safety policies and practices.
  • Completes other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have completed a post-secondary diploma or degree and have a minimum of 3 years coordinating operational activities.  In addition, strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize MS Office applications with proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and other operational software applications. Also, you are a collaborative team player with great communication and planning skills, are able to work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines. A valid Class 5 Drivers’ license required. Previous Emergency Response experience is considered an asset.

Salary range: $59,691 – $70,225 annually
