Announcing the winners of our 2019/20 Post-Secondary Scholarship

WCMRC would like to congratulate the recipients of our 2019/20 $1,000 post-secondary scholarships: Ardis Mellor-Laing, Daria Hammond and Naomi Kereliuk.

Ardis, whose father works for Tymac Launch as a Tugmaster, has recently completed her first year at the University of Victoria. She decided to pursue an education in the environmental field as a result of her love of the outdoors. This summer she worked as a student ranger with BC Parks.

This fall, Daria will attend the University of British Columbia to study Psychology. She eventually hopes to apply to medical school in order to become a Psychiatrist. Her scholarship essay emphasized the importance of international cooperation to protect the world’s oceans. Daria’s father is the Director of Operations for WCMRC.

Naomi is entering her first year at Acadia University where she will be pursuing her passion for nutrition. She hopes to earn a degree in science nutrition and become a dietitian. Her father is the Director of Emergency Management at Trans Mountain. As a first responder he is often traveling. Naomi hopes that as a dietitian she can help support first responders increase their knowledge of the importance of nutrition in high-stress environments.
