WCMRC would like to congratulate the recipients of our 2017/18 $1,000 post-secondary scholarships: Cody Hubbard, Nikolina Gacic and Darren Rulofs.
Cody, whose father works for SAAM SMIT, is a recent graduate of Capilano University where he studied Human Kinetics: Health Science. He has been accepted into UBC to study Kinesiology & Health Science in 2017. He hopes his health science education will transition into a career in medicine.
Nikolina plans to pursue a career in pharmacy and was recently accepted into UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Her scholarship essay looked at how the federal governement can best spend the Ocean’s Protection Plan funds to protect the West Coast. Nikolina’s father works at Island Tug and Barge.
Darren is entering his third year at UBC where he is working on his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialty in Business Technology Management. He would like to pursue a career that bridges the gap between traditional business practices and the ever-expanding world of technology. He is interested in how new technologies can improve business, but also how businesses can continue to profit sustainably. Darren’s father works for the Teal Jones Group.
WCMRC would like to wish the winners and all the applicants success in their future careers.
