WCMRC would like to congratulate the recipients of our 2021/22 $1,000 post-secondary scholarships: Katelyn Snell, Josh Davis and Devin Milner.
Katelyn, whose father is a WCMRC contractor, is enrolled in her third year at UBC in the Bachelor of Media Studies program. She has been published in the Poetry Institute of Canada’s anthology Tales by Twilight for her poem “Fever Dream,” which explores the current climate crisis.
Josh is currently working full-time for the Canadian Coast Guard. He is enrolled in the Watchkeeping Mates Certificate Program at Camosun College starting this September. His plan is to one day work as a BC coast pilot. Josh’s uncle is WCMRC’s Operations Manager at our new Sidney Response Base.
Devin is attending the Western Maritime Institute working towards his Bridge Watch Rating. His goal is to get onboard with an organization whose mission is to help and preserve mariners and the environments that we enjoy today. He has volunteered with Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue since 2014.
WCMRC would like to wish the winners and all the applicants success in their future careers.
