Brush Skimmers

Brush Skimmers

Brush skimmers are floating oil skimmers with rotating brushes for high volume recovery. These types of skimmers have proven to be very effective with heavier products, including crude oil, dilbit and bunker C.

Disk Skimmers

Disk Skimmers

Disk skimmers use rotating discs covered with a fuzzy oleophilic material. The oleophilic material collects oil as the disc passes through the water and wiper blades scrape off the oil into a collection tank. This skimmer is typically deployed for spills of lighter oils such as diesel.

Fire Boom

Fire Boom

Fire boom is made from fire resistant material and is used to collect and ignite oil in a controlled burn, known as in-situ burning.

WCMRC maintains 152 metres of fire boom.

General Purpose Boom

General Purpose Boom

General purpose boom is available in a range of sizes for use in all water conditions. The boom is known for its simplicity of use and rugged design.

WCMRC maintains 30,684 metres of general purpose boom.

NOFI Current Busters

NOFI Current Busters

Designed in Norway, these sweep systems are regarded as the most efficient systems available. They have a unique ability to collect and concentrate oil in waters exposed to current as well as when towing the system at high speeds in open water.

WCMRC maintains five current busters.

Offshore Boom

Offshore Boom

Offshore boom is air-inflated boom that is well suited to the harsh conditions faced in open ocean spills. Large independent air bladders within individual buoyancy chambers are quickly inflated with blower packs.

WCMRC maintains 6,825 metres of offshore boom.

Shore-Seal Boom

Shore-Seal Boom

Shore-seal boom is deployed to protect beaches and low tidal land areas. The boom is also used during shoreline flushing operations to contain flushed oil for skimming. Water-filled chambers ‘seal’ the boom to the shoreline and air-inflated chambers provide buoyancy.

We have 7,157 metres of shore-seal boom.
